Axlan Associates

  • Team Axlan
Associate Business Card
by David Harper, Team Co-ordinator

Axlan Associates or Team Axlan is the division of Axlan Communications dedicated to language professionals.

By operating under the banner of Axlan, language professionals will have improved opportunities for gaining quality work while at the same time benefiting from a support structure that will make the job less demanding and stressful.

So, what is the reasoning behind Axlan Associates and why should you be interested? Well, if you are a language teacher or translator, read on and see if anything below strikes a chord.

A New Approach

The philosophy behind Axlan is very simple.

By leveraging new technology and keeping expenses to a minimum, we will be able to maximise the rates paid to language professionals while at the same time keeping our customer rates competitive. By paying well and being selective about who we take on, we intend to provide high quality services to the market and to build a reputation for professionalism and competence in all aspects of our work.

Agencies and Academies

Working through agencies or at academies alleviates the need to find and maintain clients and can sometimes (though not always) reduce the administrative load associated with the job. However, they quite understandably take a substantial percentage of the rate the end customer pays, which means proportionately less money for the teacher or translator.

Freelancing

Working as a freelancer cuts out the middlemen and can result in a considerably higher hourly rate. However, working alone means that valuable time is used up finding and keeping customers and administration can be a headache. Furthermore, the best paying business customers may be wary of contracting individual teachers, preferring to deal with established organisations. The lack of a support structure can also make freelancing a lonely business.

Services

Axlan provides registered language teachers and translators with the following services:

  • Access to Axlan database of language classes and translation work with guaranteed % of the customer rate
  • Access to Axlan database of private classes free of charge
  • On-going commission for introducing new customers to Axlan
  • Free email with Axlan email address
  • Free access to Axlan support and community forums
  • Discounted Axlan business cards and other material
  • A presence on the main Axlan website
