What does it cost to become an associate?
Nothing.
What do I get as an associate?
- Access to Axlan database of language classes and translation work with guaranteed % of the customer rate
- Access to Axlan database of private classes free of charge
- On-going commission for introducing new customers to Axlan
- Free email with Axlan email address
- Free access to Axlan support and community forums
- Discounted Axlan business cards and other material
- A presence on the main Axlan website
What are the prerequisites for becoming an associate?
Members must be qualified language professionals operating in the Madrid area and be able to invoice Axlan.
What if I am not an autonomo and cannot invoice?
Please contact us. In any case, you are free to take advantage of the free services available. Furthermore, we are able to give advice regarding becoming autonomo and may also be able to suggest alternative ways of to becoming involved.
How do I apply to be an associate?
If you'd like to join, Please contact us and supply some brief information including your specialty (i.e. English teaching, Spanish-French translation), experience and contact details and we'll get back to you with the procedure for getting on board.
Can I use the Axlan name and logo?
Associates are able to use the name and logo provided that the logo is not altered in any way.
What about private classes?
Any inquiries to Axlan related to private classes will be stored in a database available to associates. No charge will be made for this service.
Do I have any obligations as an associate?
We expect associates to uphold the high standards of the organisation and to respect customers and fellow associates. Furthermore, associates should should not abuse the email service and should respect accepted behaviour in the forums (ie. no racist, sexist comments, no flaming, no other content considered out of place).
How will Axlan find me work?
Axlan will inform Associate Members of available work and they will be free to express an interest in the work if they wish. The terms and conditions negotiated and agreed with the customer (including the hourly rate) will be made known to the associate. Everything will be transparent.
What is there to stop me negotiating directly with the customer and cutting out Axlan?
Nothing. However, this will constitute a breach of our terms and conditions and your associate status would be suspended.
If I accept work from Axlan, how will I get paid?
Axlan will invoice the customer and the associate will invoice Axlan the same amount less the Axlan commission charge.
I understand you will pay commission if I introduce clients to Axlan. How will this work??
If you introduce clients to Axlan, you will receive between 1% and 5% of the value of all invoices from that client for as long as the client remains a customer of Axlan. The precise rate will be subject to negotiation and will depend on a number of factors. The highest rate will apply to clients where the 'introducer' maintains an overseeing or 'account management' role. The lower rate will apply if simply the client contact details are given.
How much will Axlan take as commission?
Our objective is to pay the teacher a guaranteed minimum of 85% of the rate the customer pays (less any introductory commission), with a target average of 90%.
What if I already have my own clients?
Your own clients are your own and independent of Axlan.
Are there any restrictions in taking on my own new customers when I am an associate?
No, as long as the customer was not introduced by Axlan.
What happens if there are any disagreements between the client, associate and Axlan?
Axlan has been established as an organisation based on goodwill. The Axlan founders are language professionals like you and will always assist in resolving any difficulties that might arise.
