English classes are definitely exempt - some companies are not aware of that though.
In fact, I started teaching a class in a multinational company in Santander a few years ago - a friend of mine had been teaching it and gave it to me. Thing is, he had been charging IVA and when I started invoicing them without they were convinced I should be charging VAT. Then they told me I had to ask for some certificate from Hacienda saying I was applying for VAT exemption. When I spoke to Hacienda they told me that no such certificate existed and that the company obviously didn't have a clue!!!!
