Consulting

Presentations

  • Consulting

Increasingly an important part of business communication, good presentation skills are key to success in many situations. You may already be a great presenter in your own language - can you do the same in English?

Axlan offer a simple three-step solution to help you make the perfect presentation:
  • We help you to prepare the English version of your presentation script and supporting materials (Powerpoint slides, hand-outs, etc.) and to tune everything for the target audience.

  • We make an audio recording of the presentation, properly presented by an experienced native speaker. We deliver this in either audio CD and/or MP3 format as required.

  • You can listen to the recording as many times as required to perfect your pronunciation. This is a great way to use "dead time" - in the car, on the metro, etc.

If required, we will attend a dry-run of your presentation, focussing on any remaining language problems.

Method

  • Targeting the delivery

We work with you to prepare the English version of your presentation. More than simply translate the original version, we will re-create your content with the style and impact required for the target audience and business situation. Suitable style, for example, will often depend on whether the audience will be internal or external to your organisation. Importantly, we will consider whether the presentation is intended for a native English or international audience, and adapt it accordingly.

  • Native Audience

When presenting to native English speakers, whether British, American or other nationalities, it is important to know the right language to use. Using typical phrases and expressions to describe a trend, express concern, express enthusiasm and so on, will help the audience to understand and appreciate your message.

  • International Audience

Presenting in English to an audience of non-native speakers requires special care. How can you use simplified language yet ensure that it sounds adequately professional? It is far from easy to strike a balance between between the two. Using formal style, idioms or complex grammatical structures can impede understanding or even cause confusion. If the audience struggles to understand what you are saying, then your presentation is unlikely to be very successful.
